Celtic Head

Celtic Head 1978

Title Celtic Head
Date 1978
Location Rawdon
Photo ID A338
Comment A “Celtic” head on the wall of a fish and chip shop, New Road Side. It is possible that there was a Celtic settlement in the area, two finds from ancient times have been recorded a gold torque found near Billing Wood and and bronze axeheads found in Cragg Woods. Of this stone head there seems to be no record. The fish and chip shop is now an oriental take-away food outlet.
