Harrogate Road – 1976
Harrogate Road is running horizontally across the centre of the photo, the Long Stoop is out of sight on the left and the road in the foreground leads to Leeds Bradford Airport.
Warren House Lane runs from Harrogate Road to the horizon with Warren House Farm on the right hand side. The crossroads was known as Crown Point, it was early 1980’s when the crossroads became a roundabout along with a runway extension to Leeds Bradford Airport.
Situated on the roundabout (2021) is Hawthorn Carvery Pub & Restaurant.
Digitally transferred from a 35mm slide by John Hobson.
Harrogate Road – Undated
Steps situated between the shops and the dental surgery on Harrogate Road.
The steps take you up a path alongside Victory Allotments and Peasehill Allotments, bringing you out on Larkfield Drive, where Frankland’s Garage used to be and opposite the entrance to Storey Evans.
Photographer – Denis Court.
Northbrook House, Slack Beck, Harrogate Road – 2013
The stone house on the right was formerly called Slack Beck Farm, it is believed to have been built Circa 1650 which would make it one of the oldest houses in Rawdon.
It was bought by Mr Kerr in 1976, prior to this it was the property of Leechman Bell and is now owned by the donor of this image.
An attached barn which is not in view is thought to have been used for dances in the 1950s and 60s.
Image Donated by Rob Kerr.
