Comment Prospect Street runs from Over Lane to Leeds Road (A65), it was the last street in Rawdon to have earth closets. They were not demolished until 1968.

Note: At the top of the street a Samuel Ledgard’s bus is just about to pass by – I wonder if ‘Peggy’ Haigh was the conductress that day and Roland Brindley, the driver!

My Mum and Dad lived on this street between 1949 and 1950, when they moved to Billingwood Drive, Rawdon, where I was born in 1951. (Ed. Jack Brayshaw)

  1. I lived in one of the back to back properties until aged 5 in 1958. The Rawdon telephone exchange was at the bottom of the street and my mother was a telephonist there post war. These fine stone built houses were demolished and replaced with modern houses.
