Comment This area of Little London was once home to many hand loom weavers. This land was used as a tenterfield, somewhere the cloth would be pegged out to stretch and dry, it is said that the name “Whiteland’s” derives from this practice. Photographer Joanne Coultas.

Whitelands, Little London – 2014

Located in the Little London area, the chief industry of the inhabitants was once hand loom weaving.
It is said that White Lands was the area where the cloth was tentered ie pegged down to dry and stretch.
To the right are school playing fields.
