Members of the Wallis family as children, Reg, Nancy, Peter and Pat. They were a talented group famously led by Peter, he became a fitness instructor in the Army, entertaining his colleagues at the same time. He, with three sisters and a brother then formed the Wallis Family act, performing at the Peacock Hotel in Yeadon with comedy routines and a showband. Peter then bought the Westbourne Hotel in Otley where the family continued to please their fans.

He also became a straight actor appearing in many popular series on television such as Heartbeat, Coronation Street and Last of the Summer Wine. His nickname became “machine gun” Wallis because of his rapid fire style of delivering jokes when performing live on stage at venues like the City Varieties in Leeds.

Peter was a generous man giving much of his time to charity work, he was a devoted husband to his wife Dorothy during their long marriage of over 50 years. He died aged 82 in May 2008, leaving his wife, daughter and two grandchildren.
