Alfred is wearing a sailor suit, a very popular outfit for young boys at this time.
He was a member of the Brayshaw family who were renowned for manufacturing custom made vans and waggons for travelling showmen at their works on Marshall Street.

Mrs Brayshaw’s maiden name was Mary Elizabeth Denison. It is her school report card that is pictured on this website under Mary E Denison. My dad, Brian Baxter, her grandson, remembered her as a kindly lady who always gave him a coin, a penny or sixpence I believe, when he went to visit but told him not to tell his granddad.

Hi, I was reading one of your comments on the history of Brayshaw’s that some body had posted about my grandad who is in the photo. My granddad is Ernest Carr the French polisher and is still fit and well. He is 100 this year. I would like to get in touch with ( my mate kev) as known on your website.

My father was a coach painter at Brayshaw’s many years ago. I remember Ernest Carr. Pleased to hear that he is still fit and well. My maiden name was Preston my fathers name was Robinson Preston better known as Robbie.
