The location for this photo was the White Swan cricket ground, the chimney of Moorfield Mill is in the background.
The group of St. John Ambulance volunteers include, on the back row, on the right Robinson Walker (1893-1956) he was the Uncle of the donor of this image.
In the middle row, second from left is Mary Ann Hardwick (nee Swailes) of Walkers Row, a well known local nurse and midwife.
Her daughter Elsie is on the right of the front row, she was engaged to marry Robinson Walker.

A demonstration by the Yeadon branch of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in Yeadon Town Hall.
On the left the man with the white hair behind the “patients” head was Mr Harry Jennings of Naylor Jennings Green Lane Mill.
The lady in the centre wearing a hat and resting her handbag on the bed was Mrs Jennings.
Dr. Bett is on her right.

During the 2nd World war a first aid post was established in the Sunday School at St. Johns Church.
Here we see the clerical and nursing staff with Dr. Sproat.
The entrance to the building is protected with sandbags.

On the left is Mr Earle, the man on the right is Mr Kershaw.
The group also included Mable Wishaw and Mrs Pollitt.
Dr. Sprat is thought to be in the middle of the group.
In the background are sandbags to protect the church from blasts.

The man next to the defaced one was Claud or Laurence Light who lived in Varley’s fold at the time I remember the family very well.
