A horse drawn Rington’s Tea delivery van.
A family company which was established in 1907 when Samuel Smith from Leeds began selling tea from a horse and cart around the Newcastle area.
He went into partnership with William Titterington , the brand name was formed from the 2 surnames “Rington” and “S” for Smith. Titterington left the company and the Smith Family have continued the business delivering tea and other items direct to customers.
A new factory was built in Leeds in the 1930s on Lady Pit Lane, this is now a Sikh temple (January 2014).

A Jowett Bradford van, FKW 44 used for deliveries by William Morrison Provisions Ltd, James Street, Bradford.
This model was produced 1947-1953 by Jowett Cars Ltd of Idle, the company operated from 1906-1954.
The site at Five Lane Ends, Idle now has a Morrison’s store on it! (January 2014)
The van can be seen at Bradford Industrial Museum on Moorside Road in the motor gallery.

Morris Men performing a dance on the High Street.
This form of folk dance has it’s origins in the 15th century, there are all male, mixed or all female teams or sides.
Different regions have their own dances and styles of dress which may include clogs, bell pads, waist-coats, knee breeches, straw, top, or bowler hats and handkerchiefs, sticks are a common prop.

A banner for Leafield Mill can be seen behind the girl at the front. This was a contingent of mainly children dressed to represent the mill workers.
On the right another banner for “The Oldest Fish and Chip Shop”, a claim made by the fish shop on Sandy Way.

Tetley’s Brewery dray, the horses have been unharnessed. On the left is Cliffe Court newsagents, this is now the Post Office (January 2014), it also incorporates Haigh’s Bakery.
The bakery moved to premises opposite Yeadon Town Hall but has since closed.
A cash point is now located to the left of what was Cliffe Court arcade, the arcade became part of Morrisons store when major alterations were carried out and the High Street frontage changed.

This road roller was built by Aveling and Porter in 1912, at their Invicta Works Rochester. It was a Class BSD number 7600 with compound cylinders. Its registration number was MP 5185 and it was named Victoria.

Progress is a Showman’s Road Locomotive. It was built in 1923 by Charles Burrell and Son at their works in Thetford Norfolk. It was a Class D No: 3950 with compound cylinders. It was registered MO 2916 and named Progress.
