This play was titled “Dear Octopus” written in the 1930s by Dodie Smith, author of 101 Dalmations.
The octopus of the title refers to the tentacles of family relationships.

This was held in Yeadon Town Hall.
On the left, the lady on the right of the group is Mrs Irvin, Mrs Lupton sits in front of her.
The lady on the right edge is Mrs Brown with Mrs Blackwell sitting.
A variety of goods are on display, lamps, tablecloths, handbags, cushions and knitted articles.

Queen Street Chapel, later called St. Mark’s Methodist Church, this was the opening of a bazaar. People on the back row were, left to right:

Queen Street Chapel later known as St. Marks Methodist Church, this bazaar was opened by Mrs C Blaymires who is on the left.
Behind her is Sally Blaymires and the Rev. D Pike.
The names of the other ladies are: Mrs J H Crossland, Mrs I Wright, Mrs B G Mould, it is uncertain who is who. Third from the right, Miss Joan Stott.
On the right are Mr W Stott and Rev. Fred Andrews.

It is thought that the Lecture Hall on the High Street was the location of this photo. The occasion was perhaps a bazaar or a sale of work.
Some of the people are identified, the lady on the left is Sheila Cariss, the lady in the spotted dress is unknown.
The man in the bow tie is Geoffrey Banks, moving right Dolly Emsley, ? Joyce Hardwicke, Alfred Lupton (partial head with glasses), Mrs Myers then 2 unknown men. Mavis Battye is next to Sheila Cariss, moving right are ?Mrs Battye, Hazel Pitblado, Sally Blaymires, Lena Wright, ? Mary Crompton, Gwynneth Flesher.

The location is the Lecture Hall on the High Street, tables are set for a meal with sandwiches and cakes.
Olwyn Wilkes (nee Flaxington) is pouring tea for Hilda Luty (nee Smith), behind Mrs Luty is Catherine Cooper and on her right is Sally Blaymires.
Dolly Emsley is between them to the rear.
