Dear Joanne Coultas, you are ringing bells?
There was a Peter Coultas and a younger brother who lived on the farm behind/beside the Henshaw Gas Works. Peter was great friends of the EMSLEY Family who had 3 boys and were the butchers in the road behind the woolpack.
Peter Coultas and David Emesley [middle brother] were 3 years older than I and belonged to the 10 Airedale St. Johns. The patron of which was the local Joiner/Builder, Mr Dennison, whos works were next to the fish and chippie in Henshaw Lane {Greens on the Corner}, and who lived down Gill Lane opposite the gas works??Is this the house
Ghyllroyd, or is that the Coultas Family house??

Both the younger Emersley Boy and Peter’s young brother joined the 10 Airedale cubs. I am not sure if they went on into the scout troop.
Both David and Peter went to Rawdon Littlemore, and then I believe Aireborough Grammer school?

Joanne thanks for the memory, I assume you married into the family, as I cannot remember peter having a sister?

was the elder coultus Boy Brian and not Peter? Memory at some 76 years of age is playing tricks.

Hi David. Peter is my uncle and I am David’s (the youngest sons) daughter. Peter has two sisters (Mavis and Margaret) and three brothers (John, Brian and David). Most of them still live locally. Glad it brought back happy memories.

Goit Lane is a lane that runs between Gill Lane and Warm Lane South of the A65. If you look on the left of the picture between the debris, that was the bottom entrance into the old Gas Board yard, you can see that it had been walled in at some time in the past, and you can just see a stone on top of what would have been one of the pillars. The lane had originally a cobbled surface but that has almost disappeared, but if you use it, it is quite a shortcut and it comes out opposite Warm Lane Farm.
