Comment A slide taken by E E Slater of Yeadon. This image has been identified by Philip Archdale using Google Search & Photos to be Scarborough Castle, North Yorkshire. Regardless of what information originally accompanied this image it just goes to show that with a little bit of research to true identity appears. Thank you Philip.

This original slide taken by E E Slater is titled “A Curious Stopping Place” and shows railway carriages which have stopped on top of a steep ridge, passengers have alighted to admire the view. The location is possibly Canada, Slater travelled widely including a trip to North America.

Slide taken by E E Slater possibly in Canada, it shows a group of men rowing a boat with a wooden building in the background. An intriguing feature are the pairs of legs on the roof of the building, perhaps they were watching a boat race ?

This slide shows a coal mine located in the area around what is now the city of Nanaimo in British Columbia, Canada. There were several coal mines in the locality which are all closed now, a museum records the history of the mines. Image taken by E E Slater on a visit to Canada.

Photo taken by E E Slater titled “Our train is on it’s way”, it shows a steam engine and carriages. Chemical deterioration has given the appearance of snow crystals to the edges of the image.

A train at a railway halt which has a sign “Hootenay Log” which could indicate a Canadian or North American location. It is quite possible as Ernest E Slater travelled abroad.

This scene was photographed by Ernest E Slater and given the title “Winnowing Corn in Delhi”. A keen amateur photographer and a manager at Manor Mill, Slater travelled extensively leaving a record of his exploits for posterity.
