Wheatley Family – 1944
Forces Christmas Greeting.
Sent by Norman Wheatley, the message has some parts deleted by the censors, it reads :
“Dear Mrs ?
Just a few lines to let you know we arrived all right. The trip over being ok, no enemy action at all. We are under canvas at present ——— Myself & a few more of the men spent the day at the docks unloading the boat, working all night with meals on board ship, working in shifts with men from other sections ——— Give my love to Tom & May, a few xxx for Michael & David. I do not know when I shall be able to get my snaps but will send some home when I do, remember me to all at the garage ? Love to all, Norman”

Wheatley Family – Undated
Donated by Andrew Emsley who said ” The Wheatley family , May being my grandmother, lived on Avenue Terrace, Yeadon.
Norman and Frank were joiners and builders and built two brick properties, a bungalow named Stoneleigh and Arbor Vitae, they were lived in by the brothers.
Until Normans death Stoneleigh had an original cedar shingle roof covering”
