Comment | This is a photo of the Lodore Falls Hotel which overlooks Derwentwater in the Lake District, a waterfall is a feature in the grounds, the hotel is still in business. E E Slater took several images on glass slides of people in rowing boats, it is possible that Derwentwater was the location for them. |

On board the steamer “Prince of Wales”, a possible location is Derwentwater or one of the other bodies of water in the Lake District. E E Slater took photos of a visit to the Lodore Falls Hotel on Derwentwater at the same period.

Passengers on board the “Prince of Wales” which was built by the Clydeside company of Fairfield Shipbuilding in 1887. She was bought by the Steamship Packet Co. and could accommodate 1,546 passengers, the vessel was powered by a coupled 2 crankshaft engine. It was in service for the Manx Line running between Liverpool and Douglas on the Isle of Man. In 1915 the ship was sold to the Admiralty and saw service in the Eastern Mediterranean, after WWI the ship was sold and broken up in the Netherlands.

Views of a sea-side resort with a Victorian glass and wrought iron pavilion, can anyone recognise this location? E E Slater had varied holidays in Britain and abroad, the slides which survive give little information about where they were taken, however, through the internet search, it is definitely Bridlington Spa..
