Ancient Cross and stone fragments inside St. Oswald’s Church.
The pieces which make up the cross date back to the Anglo-Saxon period of the late 9th Century.
The cross is 6 foot tall with the decorated shaft on a plain base and has a headstone.

A group of Clergy and Dignitaries are grouped round the Cross and Stocks on Towngate.
In front on the left edge is F T Walsh, Churchwarden. Continuing to the right are Canon Whincup, Bishop’s Chaplain, J H Sunderland Chairman of Guiseley Urban District Council, Dr. Perowne Bishop of Bradford, Canon Shipman, Bishop’s Chaplain Diocesan Recorder, Mr Elliott Churchwarden. In the left background is the Cross Inn, the licensee’s name was Harvey Kaye.
There was also a notice advertising a production of “Charley’s Aunt”.
