Yeadon Dam – 1953
A brilliant photo of children enjoying seasonal pleasures on the frozen lake. The image was donated by Roger Brayshaw who is pulling the sledge, moving backwards the first girl is Dilys Midgley, next Jean.
There are 2 unknown boys then Raymond Walker, another unknown boy and the last boy is thought to be Michael Metcalf.
The girl standing to the left of Roger is Lynn Walker, the photo was taken by the Wharfedale Observer newspaper.
Yeadon Dam – Undated
Two men take a trip on the water astride a machine called a Baines Aqua Tandem. It appears to be a tandem frame mounted onto a platform, there are no wheels but the cogs are attached to a device at the rear. Presumably this would propel the riders through the water when they pedalled. The chap at the back looks distinctly unimpressed, he’s not dressed for a ducking!
Yeadon Dam – 1960s
1964/66 – Looking across the Tarn to the premises of John E Moore which have now gone (January 2015). Aireborough Boy’s Club was built on the site, this is now used as an outdoor pursuit centre (January 2015). From the right edge is Ingots Building now used as offices (January 2015).
Photographer James Farrar, donated by his son David Farrar.

Can anyone remember the name of the cricket club that played at this venue?
I used to visit in the 1950’s when my father played for Turner Tannings based in Bramley, Leeds.

I remember the playground like this, the boy is playing on the “Spiders Web” behind the “Umbrella” is broken to the left of the spiders web was the “Chocolate Box”. There was also “the Flying Plank”, “Pendulum” (like a flying boat) next to the sand pit.
