Gilbert married Francis Rathmell at St. Peter’s, Rawdon. 2/4/1918. Presume he was a survivor.

Brother of the above.
No further or military info.
Presume he survived.

Presume he survived.

Additional Research

Gerald Downie. 6th June 1892 – 1970. (in Nottingham). He married Florence Towers at the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Yeadon in 1920, at which time he was a lithographer.

Clarence Exley. 17th June 1896 – 1976. Born in Guiseley, son of Willie and Florence. Service No: Private 26369 Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. In 1911, widowed father Willie and his family were shawl weavers living in Barnett Street, Guiseley. Clarence married Evelyn Marshall at Park View Wesleyan Chapel in 1920.

Herbert Thompson
Private 1175 in the 15th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. Enlisted January 1915. Son of Mary and Joseph and a shopkeeper at New Scarboro’ at one stage, married Louisa at the Cragg Baptist Chapel.

Presume he lived.

Driver T E Longfellow, Cannot find this man in the family of the above.
He is not in the CWGC register so presume he lived.

I wonder if our readers are aware that the ancestors of the great American poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow lived in Horsforth & worshiped at St. Oswald’s Church, Guiseley.
I wonder if the above Longfellow’s were related to him.

John Edward Longfellow
Driver 149166 in the Royal Field Artillery. A warehouseman at home, enlisted in December 1915 and later spent 27 months in France. Discharged in April 1919.

William Longfellow
Driver 781284 in the Royal Field Artillery, also a gunner 6408. Enlisted June 1915. A millhand (spinner).

There are 1 or 2 men in the CWGC register that may be him.

He died in 1953
