Comment In 2004 the shop was a media business, in the photograph below we can see the same building many years earlier with Walter Dibb in the doorway of his shop located at the corner of Queensway & Towngate, with him is his daughter Margaret who married Cedric Busfield.

On the left edge is the Woolpack Inn, in the centre is the cross & stocks situated in the Garden of Remembrance, the New Inn is at the right edge.

Towngate House is situated on Queensway, it is an in-patient Rehabilitation and Recovery Centre providing a half-way house for patients with mental health issues.

Denison’s Funeral Services on Towngate, around 1900 it had been a plumbers and hardware business belonging to John Hird. Later it became Jim Taylors shop, then Dexters followed by a carpet stockist and an estate agents.

Properties built on the site of Albion Mill seen from the tower of St. Oswald’s Church. The houses are addressed as Towngate Close, the row on the left fronts onto Queensway, the large building at a right angle to the houses is Towngate House, a medical facility.
