Grange Farm, Rawdon, – 1920s – 1940s
Stuart Hoare with Arthur Wood, the Wood’s had the farm next door, Town Farm, they were all good friends and Mrs Wood (Arthur’s Mum) was about the same age as Louie Braithwaite and they would often attend functions at the Church institute and loved a game of ‘whist’ they remained good friends well into old age. The Wood’s also had a butchers and abattoir near Farwell Fold, on Town Street.
Grange Farm, Rawdon, – 1920s – 1940s
In March 1945, Jack Braitwaite passed away after suffering a heart attack in the kitchen of Grange Farm and Louie had no choice but to leave the farm much to the sadness of all the family. Jack is buried in the churchyard by the second entrance on the right (Now grassed over). Loie die in June 1961, aged 89, at Pickering, North Yorkshire, at her daughter Madge’s 42 Market Place, where they had a sweet shop and tobacconists and also sold game and home produce.
